about the author

Maureen Lamb grew up on the outskirts of London during the Second World War, moving to Exeter to experience the Baedeker raids on that city. Teaching geography and history took her to Kent, to Canada and then to Yorkshire and Lancashire. She had always been interested in writing and has published text books on geography and essays on local history. Now in her nineties, she writes to encourage people to look forward to old age which may even be the happiest and most rewarding time of life.

about the book

Do you ever fear growing old? Do you ever see an old man or woman in the street and wonder if that is what it will be like for you? Every picture tells a story, but it is not always the picture you may imagine. Appearances are deceptive. It is not the same for everyone of course, but this book shows how, for many, old age has so much to offer, to excite and even to look forward to.
